Slidell

Lived here for 26 years. Moved out before Katrina. Crowded, just like the other cities on the north shore.

I went here with the TRAC team in response to hurricane Katrina and Rita to help out we unloaded trucks, mucked out houses, but one house inperticular i rermember i was on my break from one house and i was taking a walk to relax and i see this older lady sitting in a lawn chair looking at what was once her house that she lived in alone. this house was once her and her husbands house and all his belongings from the navy and his and her whole life together was in this house. but it ended up she was on her break too she was removing every thing from the house. all her memories now destroyed
all her furniture every thig destroyed but that did not disable
her spirits she was mucking out her own house all alone i helped her for a little while and then i told my boss about her and then we scheduled a clean up crew for her the next day but it just made me hope full i wish every one was like that it would all be cleaned up by now if every body had that kind of old school spirit

If you live close enough, visit these people (or anyone in the area) and give a helping hand. The devastation caused by the flooding is immense.
