all in a name by alykat

The idea of naming this area “Penn Quarter” actually kind of bothers me. (Not just here on 43P, but in general.) The name “Penn Quarter” seemed to have just popped up in the last few years, as the city and various developers have worked to give this neighborhood a makeover with hip restaurants and such; “Penn Quarter” seems more like a brand than a real neighborhood.

That said, the fact that the neighborhood has a name means one has a point of reference when directing folks to places in the area between the Navy Memorial / National Archives and the MCI Center / Chinatown.
