Worth visiting!
According to the Web site, the property on which Lee-Fendall House stands was originally purchased by Henry Lee (Robert E. Lee’s father) after the Revolutionary War. Lee sold it to his cousin, Philip Richard Fendall, who built the house in 1785. Except for a brief period during the Civil War when it was used as a Union hospital, the house stayed in the Lee family until 1903.
I went to a wedding here about a year ago, held in the historic house’s backyard garden. Although I didn’t go inside the house, the exterior of the property was nice.
