Carleton Place where the Mississippi flows
Carleton Place is my hometown. I lived here for 18 years before moving to Ottawa. It’s full of good, honest, hard-working people. I hated living there when I was growing up. Partly because my parents were both teachers and my brother, sister and I couldn’t get away with much. Carleton Place is a small town, so everyone knows everyone else and everything that’s going on. I dreamed of the anonymity of a big city, where I could be myself and not have to worry about people always watching me and judging me. But, I’ve grown to realise that this will happen no matter where you are, and one day, I just stopped worrying about it. I’ve been living overseas for four years and there are many days when I would love to be back in my hometown, amongst family, friends, welcoming faces and familiar places – even if it’s only for a short while.

I grew up here
This is my hometown when I was a kid. It’s outside Ottawa and in the last decade as become a bit too much of a suburb to Kanata and Ottawa :-(
