A review of this place: I got to see the Atlantic Ocean!

On my trip to Rhode Island, I ended up working 12-hour night shifts. So during the day I was way more interested in sleeping than I was seeing the sites of New England.

So on Sunday morning after I got off work, I checked out of my hotel as fast as I could and drove off to a place that a nurse told me about. It’s called Beavertail State Park and is located on an island. It took about 20-30 minutes to drive there from Warwick and it was a gorgeous day. The sky was clear and it was crisp, and the sun was rising enough that I could get it in my picture with the ocean.

I parked my car and went walking along the edge of the cliff and took pictures of the two bays and the Atlantic Ocean (I’ve never seen it before). There were a lot of people fishing and walking around. I even got some pictures of monarch butterflies. Unfortunately I couldn’t stay long because I had a plane to catch but I will always remember the image. The only thing I thought was funny was that it didn’t smell like the ocean to me.

I would love to go back to New England and drive around it more in the fall.

Beavertail is one of my favorite places on the earth. A great place to listen to the waves and think.

wedding by the lighthouse

My husband and I were married at the tip of the Jamestown island, inside the Beavertail Lighthouse. The Town Hall was a quaint (possibly converted) house, with friendly clerks and visitors. We arrived to pick up the license dressed for the wedding, and were on our way to the ceremony site within a half hour. We’d plans to marry outside but it was overcast and windy that day, and we would have had to shout at each other. The staff at the lighthouse was so hospitable and accomodating, and helped us find a good spot inside.
