Asterix by Beaulotus has been away for a long time

Well, home of the menhirs and dolmens. Celtic heritage. Wonderful salted toffees and caramels, oysters (buy and eat them directly from the wholesalers) and other seafood. You could rent a bicycle near the tourist office and cycle around town (beach etc), great way to visit.

Absolutely beautiful and amazing. There is a wooden decking type area at the tousisty bit and you can walk out and your surrounded by these ancient stones, it sent shivers up my spine.

Menhirs by Shepard

Carnac is famous as the site of more than 3,000 prehistoric standing stones. It has several groups of menhirs perfectly aligned and some hill tombs.

The origin of this stone alignements is a great mistery.

Very worth visiting! Impressive place.

These date from Neolithic times. Many are set up in parallel rows. Scholars have debated their purpose for centuries, although most suggest they had astronomical or religious significance to the people of the area. One theory is that some of the stones marked burial sites. In all, the town contains 2,732 menhirs (monumental stones), some of them rising to heights of 20m (60 ft.).
