The iconic photos of the Rock Islands you always see in postcards and magazines are actually of a smaller sub-set of islands called the Seventy Isles, which are closed off to tourists and to the south of most of the major dive sites.
Palau itself is worth the plane ride to get there. The best dives are Ulong Channel and Siaes Tunnel, in terms of adrenalin-inducement and diversity and health of underwater life.
