An unforgettable 4th of July
It is a good place to hike and take wonderful pictures. If you go into the cave you will see interesting things. I remember that the first time I went (a 4th of July ) I spent a wonderful day with my 4 children by then, they were just “kids”.They did enjoy all the way up to the cave, but in the way down HMMM, it was not so good for my skinny boyfriend who had to carried on his shoulder my little one until we got into the car. Maybe I will go this 4th of July again. WORTH VISITING!

Beautiful Hike
I’ve never been to the cave, but in the earlier half of the 90’s I used to hike the peak every summer. It’s a beautiful and fairly mild hike with good trails.
What we did every year was camp out at the base of one trail, and take a couple of vehicles to the base of the other main trail to the peak. I can’t remember the names of these trails, but I’m sure the information and maps could be found easily. Anyways, this allowed us to come down a different route than we went up, allowing us to enjoy more of the mountain.
There’s a glacier on Timpanogos that is near the peak, and in a good (or late) snow year the glacier may extend all the way up to its saddle. Other years, you have to climb down a little bit to get to it. But once you do, the best part of the hike can be enjoyed – sliding on your rear down snow in the middle of July.
There is a big valley beneath the peak that is my other favorite part of the hike. You suddenly come up into it and it can be full of wild grasses and flowers beneath the rocky peaks above. I still carry it in my memory as an ideal of heaven.

ok, so..
I’ve never climbed to the top of Timp. But I have been to the cave a million times, and I LOVE it! I think it is such an amazing beautiful thing to see. It is breathtaking everytime. And the hike isn’t that bad, just remember to bring some water and a sweatshirt, it can get COLD in that cave.
