I only had 10 hours in Japan...
but it was enough time to take the train to Narita and explore the town and the Temple. Definitely worth it!

Why I recommend this place to locals
If you go one station from Narita, to Shimousa Manzaki station, there’s this awesome park that reminds me of back home. There were a few families out there having a picnic and the kids were playing on the playground equiptment. There’s this slippery slide that goes for ages (it’s on of those roller ones). Worth a visit if you’re in Narita for a day or two and you’re sick of Narita-San

The first time I went to this place
The Narita temple is actually pretty huge and takes a while to navigate… whic is nice that it’s nice that it’s not just in and out in 15 minutes. The whole city is designed for tourists… senbei (rice cracker) markets, kimonos for sale, green tea markets… and a great western pub that sells awesome beef and guiness pie. Can’ remember the name, but it’s on Omotesando street. A lot of tourists here, which is to be expected, but it’s worth at least a day trip.

airport detour
We had a 6-hour layover in Narita, outside Tokyo, between flights. The airport agents made it so easy for us to take a quick trip into town—the Help Desk has highlighted maps and explicit instructions for taking the train into town. It’s very easy to follow the main road into town to visit the grand old temple, wander in and out of grocery stores (always fascinating) and have an authentic lunch. If you have the time, why not? Worth the detour.
