Excellent service - great food by MFM
Today I had brunch at Mindy’s Hot Chocolate. The wait is long but they have a great lounge area with free coffee and cushioned benches where I sat and read until they had an extra seat at the bar. Another girl sat down at the same time as me and we both laughed because we each had a book to read. The (adorable) bartended jumped to the conclusion that we were together because we sat down at the same time and were chatting so we had to explain that we did not know each other. He (Andy) was really nice and friendly and helped with ordering. The girl next to mewas a regular or friends with people who worked there because they brought her some free pastries and she shared them with me!! Let me say that although the food I ordered was good, I would go back for the chocolate chip scone alone – it was buttery and flaky but moist and flavorful – maybe the best I have ever had.
Since the place is called Hot Chocolate, I felt compelled to order some but wished I had thought to have a Bloody Mary because it came with a bacon garnish! The hot chocolate I ordered was the Half and Half…1/2 espresso, 1/2 dark hot chocolate and it was topped with a homemade marshmallow.
It seems like they make most everything in house – even the bagels and English muffins. I ordered the potato pancakes which came on harissa and was topped with roasted Brussel sprouts, 2 fried eggs and accompanied with pork belly. I could only eat half but the half I had was superb.
