There are plenty of good points about Kanchanaburi safari park. Unlike western safari parks, you take the safari tour with the windows of the tourbus open, allowing you to feed many of the animals. The giraffes in particular are very used to tourists and will stick their heads into the bus in their search for snacks: where else can you come face-to-face with an animal that usually has its head (literally!) in the clouds? There is also the chance to pay for a photo with full grown lions, tigers, alligators and baby leopards, and they insist that none of their animals are sedated for tourists.
On a less positive note, we did witness a dog show that left us questioning the treatment of the dogs by staff, and an elephant show. Elephant shows are a huge problem in Thailand, as many are injured performing dangerous stunts. I would recommend a visit for the safari and the thrilling crocodile show, but avoid the elephant and dog shows if you tend to worry about animal welfare.
