A tip I have about this place

bring a backpack and walk thru the whole community- the people are very nice, local and expat alike. we stayed at El Burro Burracho, not sure if it’s still there, but go if you can, very laid back and ‘local’.

also, fwiw- it’s not in the state of Sinaloa, it’s in Guerrero. the actual map is correct, but the tags aren’t. (I got the coordinates from a Troncones site, http://www.troncones.com.mx/) makes a big difference if you want to figure out how to get from DF to Troncones- we took an overnight bus- easy schmeasy, and cheap.

Been there a couple times...

Visited Troncones a year ago…and now 3 friends and I own a lot. As others have said, it’s a sleepy little village. Great surfing. Great pelicans and bird watching.

We’ve stayed at Casa Viva and Present Moment, both built by Gustavo and Karina Jasso…local architect/builder.

There is a great vibe to Troncones, you instantly feel connected to nature.

Visited my Aunt and Uncle down there. There seems to be oddly symbiotic dual communities of expatriate or snowbird gringos (especially from Seattle) and the locals. Beautiful area, just far enough out of Zihuatanejo to be “real” mexico, but close enough that it’s not too difficult to get to.

Down a dirt road...

Troncones is like a secret beach from a travel, adventure movie but is inhabited by US expats who are living a surfer, no shoes, long hair, cervaza drinking lifestyle. And while it is down a dirt road in fairly rural Mexico, a couple of the haciendas down the beach have wireless internet.

Very quiet little beach town, not a lot to do but read a good book and lay in the sun.
