Silverton

Silver Falls State Park is beautiful. The trails are not difficult to hike, and you can walk behind two of the waterfalls. It’s a nice, relaxing way to get away from the world for a while.

Nice little town. Real community feeling. Visually appealing – lots of nice older houses, not run down.
It seems cleaner and nicer than other towns in the same vicinity.

The Oregon Gardens including the Frank Lloyd Wright house are worth visiting, as is Silver Falls State park. Nice little Christian Retreat Centre on the way out to Silver Falls, as well as a kids camp run by the nicest people and a seminary.

If you are in the area of Silverton or Salem, do yourself a favor and get off the interstate. Driving the smaller highways like 213 and 214 takes more time, but they are beautiful drives. People in the country do their yards up so nice.
