Tybee Island Summer 2007  — 10 months ago

    Worth visiting!

We went to Tybee Island in the summer of 2007 and had a blast. The beach is lovley. We had a couple of jelly fish problems on a section of the beach but when we moved it was great. We swam and the dolphins came within about 15 feet swimming down the beach. Cafe Loco and the Crab Shack are the places to eat on Tybee. Overall great vacation. Got a great condo. Most people on the island are very friendly and the Pavilion has music and activies all day and late into the night.

I had never been to Savannah and I was just visiting for the evening from Atlanta. While driving though the streets and near the lighthouse I saw a wedding on top of a large stone building right on the beach. It was beautiful, and they went down to the shore for pictures after the ceremony. I guess I was being a little nosy, but it was great. I want to go back so bad.

I go visit the beaches everyother week about, but I only go at dusk or night. To me, that is when the beach is at it’s best. Especially on a full moon.

this beach is very pretty. it’s not as pretty as the florida gulf coast, but i do like it’s tranquility. i can see why sandra bullock made this her home. the swings on the beach are a nice touch.

    ROACHES  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I really really liked Tybee Island, but I was so scared of getting attacked by monster roaches I couldnt fully enjoy. Course I got made fun of the whole time, but if you are a little squeamish about them, you might not want to go, they especially come out at night! But on the whole, beautiful!

Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 2 years ago

A beautiful, quite place with plenty of lodging, not far from Savannah itself, but seems miles away from the busy feeling of the historic city. Lovely.

for years. He has so very many stories about it. And he’s gathered stories from acquaintances and friends.

We like to sit just a little north of the 16th St. pier and gazebo.

A tip I have about this place  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

Be VERY wary of renting a house on Tybee. We rented one for New Years that was a royal dump for what we had to pay – cockroaches, filth, horrible furniture and all. We called the real estate person who was not much of a person really because she did not try and accomodate us at all. Nothing was like the pictures advertised on her site on the internet. So, watch out for anyone connected to “My Beach House” or “My Beach Rentals” on Tybee – bad news. Horrible, really. Would rather have been in a hotel in downtown Savannah ANY day. Just look out for pictures of a “cottage” on Tybee..it is NOT a “cottage” but a dump. Sorry I cannot remember this lady’s name because I have tried blocking the entire experience. Oh, and Tybee is very pretty despite this horrible rental! lol

I was on Tybee Island 3 years ago when my son and I took a road trip. We went to a place called the crab shack that was listed in a book called “Road food” It was wonderful! for $50.00 you can get a heaping platter of crab legs, mussels, crawfish, corn on the cob, sausage and potatoes for 2 (or more) people. I enjoyed myself so much. The beach at tybee is so peaceful. You can easily find sand dollars. I love this place so much that I decided to get married here. On August 22nd 2006 I will be getting married at the Tybee lighthouse. Afterwards I am going to get another seafood platter at the crab shack. I dont know which excites me more – getting married or eating that wonderful platter!! LOL
