Shanhaiguan

The fall of the Ming and the start of the Manchu. The sight of the Great Wall arising from the sea. The boundary, the start and end of empire and the beginning of the end of dynasties, and the ocean – sounds like a great place to visit.

i was very young when i visited… so my recollection is not all that great. but i would definitely like to visit there again. hopfully in the summer.

Shanhaiguan rough translates to “Mountain and Sea Pass.” At Shanhaiguan, there’s mountains, there’s sea, and there’s Great Wall liberally sprinkled all over the landscape. Makes for great scenery.

The Great Wall here is beautiful! Especially where it goes into the ocean.
