If you want something different, timeless, peaceful and beautiful and if you want to get away from the city and experience nature in its purest, go here. It has a very serene, province feel to it. Camiguin offers pristine beaches, expert mountain climbing destinations, untouched forests, breathtaking waterfalls. Visit the volcanoes and White Island while your there. Bring home the island’s popular sweet lanzones fruit and pastel pastry.

Great spot for a vacation. Very historic Island just like when you travel to Spain . There is a sunken cemetery, ruins of old churches, white beaches, and many others

A review of this place: Away from the Crowds of Boracay  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

Boracay is fine, probably the best kind of sand your feet will land on. But it is too commercialized, in fact, it’s like a city already with sand.

But Camiguin has kept its rustic and natural charm. You’ve got an active volcano, natural hot spring bath, a cold spring bath, sunken cemetery, the luscious fruit called “lanzones”, sleepy towns, a white sand bar where there are still colorful fishes around when you snorkel. It has a majestic waterfall. And keeping the Catholic faith alive, you climb a mountain with one “station of the Cross” each as a stopover. Life-size statues re-enacting Jesus Christ’s passion and death.

It’s not a party place. But it’s a worthwhile experience. Solace and old rural setting. It’s a rarity on the Philippine map!

I didn’t know my dad’s side of the fam so I went on a spontaneous trip there and looked for people with my last name. I stopped at a sari-sari store so I could ask around and realized that my last name was on the damn store…. the rest is history.. family history!

A tip I have about this place  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I was there last Thursday and spent two nights in a rented cottage. If you’re on a tight budget, check out the cottages for rent in Yumbing town, just across the White Island (probably the only decent beach around)...don’t just settle for the 1st one you see…go around the place and haggle for the best deal possible. If you can bring a car with you, it would be better.
