The town that holds my Heart ... Still by Jeremy
Before I ended up in Rye, I lived in a charming little town called Malta, NY. Now for the most part Malta doesn’t really exist. Most people think it is a part of Clifton Park, or Saratoga Springs, and the Post Office will tell you that it is in Ballston Spa. I love how this part of upstate New York calls every town a spa or a springs or a park, but the most notable big city really is Albany about 20 minutes south.
The people in this part of the world are far friendlier than anywhere else I have ever been. They all say hello, and smile when they walk past you. The quick little trip into Saratoga Springs will also reveal one of the most beautiful towns on planet earth. It reminds me of Portsmouth NH, only with very large lakes instead of the Atlantic. The area itself is pretty much dominated by tourists who love horse racing, but in the winter it is as beautiful as a poem. Malta is the perfect balance of everything in the area, and let’s face it … the rent is a lot cheaper too. I will probably end up here many times throughout my life, but will miss it everytime I am forced away from it :D
