Sugar Ski Resort

Sugar is my favorite ski resort in the southeast as it has the longest run. If you go during the holidays, just expect it to be crowded. The north carolina resorts are the closest to the southern states without much/any snow: Florida, Georgia, Ala…
so they get slammed at every holiday. Generally, the snow is ok as they make as much as they can, but early/late in the season has the worst conditions by far.

I have went here every MLK Weekend for the past 6 years. Once there was no snow on half the slope but the rest of the time it was pretty decent skiing (to be this far south). Stay at the condos on the top of Big Red are the chateaus on the side of the mountain.

I went to Sugar Mt. on two seperate times, 16 & 17 years old. I am a Florida girl, so the snow was a treat, the cold was not!
The first year I did okay, aces the bunny slope! However the second year, I think I got worste. I wiped out a poor little pine tree, and everything tasted like pine for a couple of days.
I tried ice skating. Boy was that a joke! Put on skates, stood up, feel down, took skates off, had bruised butt!
I have never been to another ski slope, so have nothing to compare it to, but will live if I never ski or ice skate again.
It was truly beautiful though!
