Haines

Lived in Haines for Most of my childhood, up until I graduated high school and moved out. I miss it all the time. It’s beautiful, friendly, unique, and a great stop for anyone wanting to see Alaska.

We arrived in Haines via ferry from Juneau. Haines is a great place to pick up a rental car if you are going to drive to the upper section of Alaska. The summer we were there, Haines had been bypassed by the cruise lines, so the town was very quiet, very picaresque. Downtown was small and cozy, and the people, as all over Alaska, were really friendly.
