We lived here for 6 years
My family moved from Vallejo to Alameda when I was 3 or 4. First we lived on Broadway and later at 437 Whitehall Road. I went to Edison School first, and later on Lum School.
We moved to England in 1976, when I was 10, but I have fond memories of Alameda.

Lived in Alameda for 18 years...
I must say, growing up in Alameda as a kid sucked. There’s not much for teenagers to do on weekend nights. But, Alameda is in the heart of the Bay Area and is surrounded by places like Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco and more. In hindsight, I’d say it was a pretty good place to grow up in.

Please send me a nice single guy here!!! White, asian, or pacific islander, very kind, non-smikong, loves kids, and btwn 30-50 yrs. old. Alameda is awesome but there is no men here to meet! PS – I learn languages quickly! Let me know – I have a blog on yahoo 360 and an email JustineNaartje at yahoo dot com…... I am a funny, intelligent, honorable woman. Moms love me. Free to meet someone now—yeay! Thank you for reading….. FRIENDS…..COME SEE ALAMEDA!!! BEST CITY ON EARTH!!! Alameda has tree lined streets, sense of community, year-around mild climate, great health clubs, excellent schools, and it is close to everything – a non-busy little island – but you can ski and surf in one day near here if you want! There is no other place like it…......

i think alameda is like of like a secret of the bay area. Over shadowed by Oakland and San Franisco, this little town is not very populated (altho, housing development are still around), it’s not the prettiest, nor most famous or historically rich.
however, it’s home.
If you want to relax, stroll through the streets of a quiet town in the largest metro area, alameda’s the place for you

Alameda is a crazy town that’s reminiscent of some strange mix of New Jersey, Silicon Valley, and some place that hasn’t changed since 1957. But there’s nothing much interesting about it, I mean, it’s where Oakland sends all the people who aren’t cool enough to live in Oakland.
