Why I recommend this place to visitors
I recommend Maui because their way of life is soooo different from where I live [montreal]. Hawaians [most of them] are very laid back and relaxed. They make you realized that they’re is no point in always rushing trhough life. Enjoy it. [Hang loose Hawaii. A very famous phrase over there.] I’ve never been in touch with nature as much as I did in Maui. I biked down a volcano, swam with sea turtles, saw many dolphins and whales, saw beautiful exotic flowers, walked through several tropical forests, visited many different little villages, saw waterfalls… and the list goes on. There are so many things to do in Maui! [By the way we are in the middle-class, we aren’t that rich. These activities are avaiable at affordable prices :)] I equally loved the hawaian mentality; they are very friendly and they are environmentely conscious. It is simply too bad that hawaians lost most of their culture and language. But while we stayed there I spoke a few of their native language, they really appreciated the effort. Here are two very useful sentences: Mahalo Nui Loa = Thank you very much.
Aloha = Hello :)
[You probably already knew that one!]
There! Hope all of you will get the chance to visit this BEAUTIFUL island.

How this place changed my life
Lahaina was the first “real” vacation I ever took. It is amazing, and continues to be every time I go back. I absolutly LOVE it. It is my number one favorite place to be.

A review of this place
Lahaina is nice, but extremely touristy. All of the stores have “local” things, most of which you can find in gift shops at the airport. There are some nice restaurants, though, most of which are situated over the water, which is very nice.

Lahaina is a super little town. During my holiday on Maui I ate in Bubba Gump’s Shrimp restaurant with my family. The food was delicious and it was the first time I had ever seen my Grandmother drink beer!
Afterwards we went for a walk around the town and I bought a pale pink cashmere pashmina in Banana Republic. I still wear it now and every time I wrap it around me I remember my amazing holiday on Maui.

A review of this place: Great!!
I like the banyan tree at the Old Lahaina Courthouse. I also like the sone (forgot the name) on which royal ladies would give birth.
What I do not like about Lahaina is the beaches, really sandy and has sudden drops. The rocks are super sharp and I’ve heard talk about sharks at a certain beach.
The Lahaina Cannery Mall is always a must whenever I go to Lahaina. Nothing special, but I just like walking around there.

Beautiful town. I’d love to go back. I haven’t been there in years, but my favorite parts about it were the banyan tree/Old Fort/old town area and the great hiking spots in the mountains to the west of town. I’m not an experienced hiker at all, but I had an unforgettable time. Oh, and the beaches were pretty nice, too.
