Why I recommend this place to visitors  — 1 month ago

    Worth visiting!

Beautiful fountain – do throw your coins in, it may feel corny but it’s great fun. It was heaving with people when I was there – would like to go back and try to have it to myself by going really early as hippie1427 has described below.

They were shooting film/tv of some sort when I was here. I don’t know what it was, but there was this beautiful Italian girl in the fountain and a whole crew with cameras, etc. It was pretty neat. The girl was in short shorts and was wading around in the water while they gave her directions and set up lighting. After a while, when nothing else happened, we continued on our way.

    A short walk  — 10 months ago

    Worth visiting!

we woke up early, and were able to park on a street just on the other side of the buildings in front of the fountain. We had the place to ourselves, and of course we each threw a coin in. It’s nice, but of course not even close to being in the top 10 things to see in this city. But as it only takes a few minutes…

Make sure you throw a coin with your right hand over your left shoulder, and your wish will come true!

    Not worth it!

The sound of the Trevi fountain is hypnotizing and wonderful. Oh, I just LOVE Rome!

What can I say? Beautiful, I’m so glad I got to make a wish. It was such a good moment, of course then we went wandering and I used the nastiest washroom in my life, glad I’m not a woman is all I have to say, because I would die if I was in there any longer. LOL. Still, Trevi Fountain is another must, can’t imagine what it would be like to live in Rome.

Make sure you throw your coins into the fountain…1 to return to Italy…2 to return with a friend/love…3 to return with a spouse or to get married in Italy.

    I threw 3 ;)

    Dad's footsteps  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I knew about the Trevi Fountain since my childhood because my dad went there before I was born and he had great memories of it and Rome in general. I had seen his pictures a few times. 28 years after him, I was walking in his footsteps nearby the Trevi Fountain and thinking about his old pictures and stories that I had seen and heard so many times. Definitely a special moment, right after visiting the Colosseum and before going to the Sistine Chapel….what a week!!!!

Roman Men  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I went to the Trevi Fountain by myself while I was traveling in Rome. I was enjoying just being out, but was constantly being approached by local men, trying to pick me up. The typical pick up line was then asking if I would like to go somewhere to get some coffee. Most took “no” as an answer reasonably well. One man, however, was an exception. He asked if I would like coffee, I stated that I don’t drink coffee. He then asked if I would like some tea, which I don’t drink either. Wine? No. Soda? No. Finally, I told him that my boyfriend wouldn’t like it if I went somewhere for drinks with him, thinking he would finally just leave me to enjoy the fountain. His reply was, “My wife wouldn’t like it either, which is why I never tell her.” It made me laugh and hope fervently that he was only joking.
