Wahpeton

There’s no reason in the world to go here, but I went. There’s a Mount Carmel cloistered convent here. I went to visit a great aunt, who’s a nun.

If you’re here and your tank is low, get gas. I made the mistake of thinking, “ach, a quarter tank is fine.” Wrong. No gas between town and the interstate. Nothing at the interstate. Nothing. There was nowhere, so far as I could see, that sold gas between Wahpeton and Fargo that was open after 6 PM on a Thursday night. 6 PM!!!

Luckily, I didn’t run out of gas, but it did make me paranoid for the rest of the trip.

I was passing through and there was road construction – and I was not sure what is the posted speed, well anyHOW, the police stopped me and stopped me for speeding. The funny thing is the Officer Mcleod seem to have a soft spot for Native American looking women, he was all nervous and I could not find the registration and he said “thats ok I know the car is registered, but I have to give you a ticket cause I have you on camera and my partner is with me, but its only going to be $12.00”. I was really happy, and promptly paid it at the next court house.

I grew up here. We have a very nice Neon welcome sign.
