My unit was ambushed here; enemy shot at me. Mar 2003 — 3 years ago
Not worth it!
The bullet struck within a metre of my left front tyre. I returned fire as I drove at 20 mph, with my rifle, three shots, then I fired a yellow smoke grenade to mark the spot where the sniper was.
We drove on and did not stop for miles, until the sun had set. Then some squads tried to sneak up on us, but the infantry guys in the Bradleys got them with their big guns.
This was the night before we entered the Airport. The fight for the airport was going full steam as this ambush occurred.
