*The* place to watch the sunset  — 1 month ago

    Worth visiting!

    - along with what seems like thousands of other tourists. We were on an island bus tour that ended in Oia, with strict instructions to be back at the bus asap after sunset. Although the streets were crowded as people tried to get the best vantage point, everyone was very good natured.

The sunset was, of course, stunning. I must have gone through an entire roll of film in just a few minutes! It seemed like the entire ocean between Oia and the horizon had turned into molten rose-gold.

I went there a very long time ago… about 40 years ago (wow).. I’d love to go again. At that time there was 1 car on the island. I have relatives there. Hope to go again soon.

I went here in the off season, in March, and it was perfect. the weather was great, the rates cheap…and although there werent a ton of shops open, it was great to relax and very peaceful…

Ah, Oia!  — 2 years ago

Absolutely beautiful. Spent 5 nights in Oia, but I could have easily spent 5 more…except for the fact that it was August, which means busloads of tourists crowding the streets for the stunning sunsets and the unbelievable heat. Still, the view of the caldera from the pool of our hotel more than made up for those annoyances. What an adorable town!
