Oia

I decided to stay in Oia rather than in the main town where the buses arrive from the ferry.

So glad I did! I wandered around and talked to the local shopkeepers. I was able to buy great little snacks for a very reasonable price and I stayed in a lovely villa.

April was a nice time, not too hot or crowded. The stones were being whitewashed and everyone was getting ready for tourists without being sick of them!

Oia is just gorgeous and I took so many photos… enjoy!

- along with what seems like thousands of other tourists. We were on an island bus tour that ended in Oia, with strict instructions to be back at the bus asap after sunset. Although the streets were crowded as people tried to get the best vantage point, everyone was very good natured.

The sunset was, of course, stunning. I must have gone through an entire roll of film in just a few minutes! It seemed like the entire ocean between Oia and the horizon had turned into molten rose-gold.

i need someplace beautiful to relax and collect myself.

I went there a very long time ago… about 40 years ago (wow).. I’d love to go again. At that time there was 1 car on the island. I have relatives there. Hope to go again soon.

I went here in the off season, in March, and it was perfect. the weather was great, the rates cheap…and although there werent a ton of shops open, it was great to relax and very peaceful…
