Funny thing. I’m an exchange student who just happen to lived in Tien Mu for about over a semster. Not a bad place. Especially if your a foriegner who just happened to move here. Most people there I think speak English so you won’t feel lost. Pretty helpful too.

I live here now...  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

Just moved to Taipei for a temporary stay as a visiting researcher at NTU. Living in Tian Mu is great so far, and the “neighborhood” is nice. ...sort of like the hoboken of taipei, if you can make the analogy. I’m looking forward to exploring more of the area, it seems like there is so much to do. Actually decided to find a place here after reading ‘mani loves to travel’s posts.

I could say a lot for my old home of 18 years… this place is where you go for the best chinese food in the world. And taipei is where boba or bubble tea was born.

they call it little LA/ SF in Taipei  — 2 years ago

you can call it Tien Mu or Tian Mou or Tian MU
it’s really complicated spelling here in taipei,
but when you talk to people, they will show you how to go.

it has taipei american school(TAS),and japanese school. more laid-back than downtown taipei city.

It also closes to Tamsui(riverside suburban area features with beautiful sunset & historical sites & fishman’s wharf as SF) & Beitou(hotspring) in 20 mins, if you have time you can do jogging or hiking to it’s back mountain.

There are many public parks in this area, quite westernized & have many different cuisines to taste, you can also go to national park “yangmingshan” in 10 mins” by driving, or 30 from the trail to the mountain.

It has department stores, Eslite bookstore(taiwanese leading bookstore) & Warner Village theater, 2 super markets, baseball stadium etc. if you are into baseball, it’s quite cheap to watch in taipei, watcing the game facing the mountain & hills is quite unique.

In taipei, only Tien Mu, BeiTou, Tamsui area has good living standard, other area would be like NY,HK..too busy & crowded & noisy during night, cos Taipei famous with the night life.

If you have free time, just jump into MRT in 15 mins you can reach Tamsui, that’s the place I live….beautiful.
