The Stockyards

I visited the Stockyards because I wanted an authentic Texan experience. It may sound corny but it was! I had so much fun and I’m not really all that into “country” stuff! The people of Ft Worth are so nice. Also, this is the first time I’ve seen any longhorn cattle…cool!

The maze is so much fun! Especially sense cows used to go through it to keep them from stampeding.

It was one of the challenges on The Amazing Race once!
The stockyards are a lot of fun and so is Billy Bob’s.

My daughter and I worked in a gift shop called “Xanadu” right there in the middle of the Stockyards. Greatest job I ever had there. The old steam engine train would roll into the middle of the plaza and the people would get off the train smiling and ready to shop. The whole atmosphere of the Stockyards was amazing. I loved to go to work every morning. Movies were filmed, weddings performed and always lots of great people from all over the world.

BBQ!! :-) And lots of cowboy-country-type shops to buy souvenirs in. And good photo-ops. Definitely a place to take visitors – my sister always takes family there for supper when they’re in town (that included me before I moved to Arlington & then Dallas).

Lots of cows, bars and boots to be seen here.

But there’s a lot to do, and as a tourist, I felt it was wroth doing. A co-worker who used to live in Fort Worth was disgusted that I did not go to one of the city’s fine museums instead. But I really enjoyed it.
