The Crossroads

Here, at a spot on the east side of the Highway 301 north from Ludowici, there is a concrete picnic table and an iron historical plaque commemorating where the Milledgeville and King Roads merged to form 301.

Also, there is at this spot or nearby where the two old Creek Confederacy or Nation’s trails crossed. One was the trail from Doctortown to Savannah. The other was the trail from Savannah to Beard’s Bluff.

Doctortown is also known for a Civil War skirmish, during Sherman’s Campaign of scorched earth and ethnic cleansing.
