    Worth visiting!

There’s something shameful about being a “townie” when you’re going to college. It means that you grew up in the town that your university is in. It means that – unlike most of your schoolmates – you haven’t pulled up roots.

It’s been six years since I moved away from Kent. I grew up there, and lived there for 26 years before moving away to another country. If destiny had played out differently, I could see myself still living there. It’s a place with depth, history, a culture all its own, and interesting things around every corner. On stressful days I picture myself strolling along the shore of Plum Creek, or watching the squirrels on Front Campus.

I may have been a “townie,” but I still love the place deeply, and I’m proud of where I came from. Worth visiting… indeed.

    Not worth it!

So, the town of Kent has 29,000 residents. Kent State University has 25,000 students and 3,000 faculty and staff.

What else is there to say?

All there is in Kent is the school and restaurants..

I still go there about once or twice a week. My boyfriend lives there for now. It’s in a nice part of Ohio. There’s a lot to do if you know where to look.

I was raised here. It’s a cute little college town. Great scenery and culture. Not too big but not ridiculously small either.

OK to Visit!  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

I attended Kent State University, which is located in Kent, OH. I received my B.S. from there and am currently a grad student there. I lived on campus 3 years and in an apartment within the city for another 2 years. It’s always changing and constantly growing! They have all types of festivals, including the famous “Black Squirel” festival. I’d be happy to answer any questions!
