Sauvie Island

It’s a fun day trip, but the berry picking hasn’t been the same since they stopped planting Mt Hood strawberries. The first time we went, I think my kid ate a pound of strawberries and we brought home about 5lbs. I couldn’t stop eating them. You pick two and eat 10. Maybe that’s why they stopped planting them. You show up at the scale with blood red hands and strawberry juice smeared smile on your face and only a half bucket full of berries even though you spent two hours out in the field.

I grew up near there on a boat. We would go over there to get our pumpkins, corn, honey, pet cows, and get our christmas tree.
