Why I recommend this place to visitors

Commisioned by the MFAH in 1999 to connect the Caroline Wiess Law Building with the new Audrey Jones Beck Building.

Walking through it is a surreal experience; it almost feels like you’re going to fall off the floor.

Wow, this is one of the most unique exhibits I’ve ever seen. We came here once in high school, and everyone was just passing through this room to see more sculptures. My friend and I noticed the walls were a different colour when we returned. It’s amazing, because you can’t tell that the walls change. I stood there in the dark, focused entirely on the surrounding lights for what seemed like an eternity, completely awestruck at what I was watching.

Tunnel of light
Seen on Flickr. Described by The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston:

For the museum´s new tunnel, Turrell created a light installation. The work turns the walls of the tunnel into vessels for conducting light. The walk between the Beck and Law buildings becomes an exploration of color and space.
