    Worth visiting!

i did a day trip from dubrovnik to mostar per car. the old town was rebuild after the war and is quite nice. however, if you leave the historic center there are still lots of bombed buildings which left behind a sad feeling. in addition, there are lots of tourist and locals tried to cheat me twice in only 90 minutes…
...so be careful – especially on the paid parking area near the famous bridge. on the other hand, i stupidly forgot to lock my car and everything was still there… ;-)

    Worth visiting!

I was there on a day trip on Saturday.

I always liked Mostar, but somehow didn’t enjoy it as much as I felt I could. I guess it was because it was never my destination, I always visited it on my way to somewhere else. It was usually during the summer, when it’s very hot and dry and full of tourist over there.

This time it was everything I knew it could be. October is the best time of year to visit Mostar, in my opinion. The weather is great (Meditarenean climate), the town isn’t empty but it isn’t full either. I was wondering if I would ever be able to be the only person on the bridge and I was this time. :) I also feel that I experienced Mostar’s true soul because I wasn’t in a usual rush to get out of the place as soon as possible.

I was shocked when i arrived in Mostar at how beautiful the city was. The water looks absolutely dazzling. Some locals took us out of town to a swimming hole that was totally secluded. So beautiful.

Took a day trip to see the famous bridge. You could feel the tension in the air between the various factions of people and the streets were very dirty, but it was nice to see the difference between BH and Croatia. The bombed out buildings are a very sad site and they still have active landmines.

While the center of Mostar is rebuilt, the outer sections still bear many of the physical and emotional scars of war. It’s a beautiful city at night though, nothing compares with the illuminated bridge!
