Ambon is a breathtakingly beautiful island with soft, gentle people and a simple way of life. It has some of the world’s most interesting underwater reefs and topographies. It is also tragically marred by civil war that wracked Halamahera in recent years.
I was lucky enough to spend a month there by chance in 1995, when my travelmate got stuck in Europe and I decided to wait him out. While he never made it, I am so much richer for having been there. Special thanks to Carole & Sunny, for sharing your special home.
