Downers Grove

It has a cute little main street with shops and cafes. Its not a big town but its clean, friendly, and has an amazing sense of community. Every summer you will see dozens of block parties and things going on down at the main street. The Halloween parade is one of the things I remember most. Everyone who wants to just parades down the street in halloween costumes. The cops are usually friendly and in good moods. Lots of decent car dealerships. Decent shopping and good parks. Its also a pretty simple commute to downtown Chicago. You can drive Ogden or take the train conveniently located by Main street. takes you straight there. The business men on the train are even nice enough to offer you their newspaper when they are done with it.

I love this cute little town that’s close enough to chicago but far away enough so it’s not citylike. It’s not suburbia-like with matching houses and every little neighbourhood is unique. One of my friends lives in a forest called Denburn Woods in Downers Grove and it is awesome, it has parks and things like that.

But if you have friends, family, or (as I did until 2002) work commitments in the area, swing by. Has a cute small downtown area and the metro trains run right through, easy access to downtown Chicago.
