Worth visiting!

I have been born and raised outside of Grants Pass and while it’s terribly boring most of the time, I truly love it in my heart. The city itself is not that beautiful, and the city is always putting cheesy “beautification” junk all over the streets, but the area around Grants Pass is gorgeous…I wouldn’t have chosen to grow up anywhere else.

A good place to eat is Bluestone Bakery, it’s on 6th Street (one of the main streets that runs through the downtown area).

A review of this place

I only passed through Grants Pass, but I wish I had spent more time. The views along the drive were spectacular.

Friendly small town

We stopped here on our way up to Portland from the California coast. I wasn’t expecting much, but it was a pleasant town with views of the mountains, rivers, lots of bike lanes (!), and friendly locals who gave us great recommendations on what to eat. The Wild River Brewery has surprisingly good food and beer for being in such a small town – check it out.

Gateway to the Rogue River

Not really much of a city, but it does kind of lie in the heart of the Rogue Valley, which is really nice if you like the outdoors. The jet boat tours on the Rogue River leave from Grants Pass, and it’s less than two hours away from a ton of camping, fishing, hiking, and general siteseeing locales, including the Oregon Caves and Crater Lake. It’s also less than three hours from the redwoods and the coast. Overall, it’s much better as a gateway to other places than as a destination of its own…

Maybe I needed to travel to the outer limits

Grants Pass as a town did not impress me at all. But maybe that was because I was at the I-5 truck stop for a night. I tried to find a decent restaurant, but couldn’t. Was not crazy about this place and I won’t go back.
