When my brother Tim first moved to the Phoenix area in the early 90’s, he said it was common to take all his friends “tubing” down the Salt River. You’d float downstream merrily with a cooler of beer, and leisure intended.

Worth visiting!
A tip I have about this place
Sunscreen!!! And wear shoes! The rocks in the river are slimy and they can be sharp.

Salt River Tubing
Although located about an hour outside the city, it is well worth the visit. Open during the summer months the Salt River Tubing Company will rent you tubes and bus you one of a few different starting points.
Yesterday I went with two others from about three to six, and it was beautiful. The water was clear and cool, moving at the perfect pace. It’s a great way to enjoy Arizona in the summer, without having to suffer from the extreme desert heat.
One important thing to remember though, even though you may feel cool, the sun is still really strong. I’d suggest applying sunscreen at least every hour!!
