    Kangaroos  — 3 months ago

    Worth visiting!

You can have your photo taken holding a koala here… and feed baby kangaroos.

Just remember one thing, kangaroos are pests in Australia, not cutesy little furry things. They are on the menu in some restaurants. No, I am not kidding.

How this place changed my life  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

My 5 year old daughter was crazy about animals. She would always watch the Animal Planet and became Steve Irwin’s biggest fan. We planned a trip to Australia (from our home in Idaho)to include Australia Zoo partly as a 6th birthday present. Her birthday is in Sept but we planned the trip for Dec 1st to maximize our chances of seeing her hero. (Dec 1st was Bob Irwin’s 3rd birthday celebration at the zoo). I planned a Crocodile Hunter birthday party for her. The week before her birthday was the tragic death of Steve. She was devastated. We had an incredible trip to Australia anyway, beginning in mid-November. Australia Zoo was almost our last stop. As we sat in the bleachers of the Crocoseum and Terri, Bindi and Bob came out we all began to cry, including my husband. It was a moving experience and brought our whole family closer together and closer to their family and the whole of Australia. We can’t wait to go back.

So amazing  — 1 year ago

    Worth visiting!

I love Steve Irwin and visiting his beautiful Zoo was definitly important on my trip to Australia. Funny thing- I wasn’t sure I was actually going to be able to visit- but my intention was clear- I wanted to go.
It was a very wet and rainy day. Didn’t matter.
It was still very enjoyable. I got a really cool rain poncho anyway!.. and a postcard that says “Cricky”
Best Zoo Ever- because you can totally feel the family love.
    It Rocks!!

This is a Zoo unlike any other, healthy animals with room to move. The Croc Hunter deserves an Oscar or a Knighthood or something. We spent 6 hours there and could have stayed longer. Superb

This is my dream!  — 2 years ago

I watch Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter all the time and I would give anything to be able to go and visit the Zoo and hold a koala!

Koala, and Kangaroos and Crocodiles, Oh Crikey!  — 2 years ago

    Worth visiting!

Well I didn’t get a glimpse of Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter!
But the feeding show was quite incredible.

The Zoo is well laid out and almost exclusively devoted to the birds, animals and flora of Australia with lots of creatures you’re unlikely to see by yourself in the wild unless you have a very extended stay in multiple different regions of the continent.

Where else could you see Dingos (Australia’s native dog), Tasmanian Devils, Koala and also handfeed Kangaroos, Wombats and Echidna? And what else would you expect when the proprietor is the Crocodile Hunter (Steve Irwin) – Crocs upon Crocs!

Well worth the drive from Brisbane.
