Thousand Islands

The Thousand Islands Region is a very beautiful and scenic place. It used to be the playground of the rich, and now it is home to Boldt Castle and Singer Castle. Both are reachable by boat and boat tours are daily.
Alexandria Bay is noted for the night life as well as its 4th of July fireworks over Boldt Castle, but beware—traffic is horrible to navigate afterward.

Another famous thing is Bill Johnston’s Pirate Days. People win competitions for the best-dressed pirate.
This takes place in August.

Most of the local places close down after Labor Day weekend and re-open at Memorial Day weekend.

For a fun 3-hour tour!

Going to take my husband Mark here for an Uncle Sam’s Boat Tour. Also, going to visit some family in the area and go to Boldt Castle. I have a Great-Aunt who works there so I can get in for free :-)

The tours are fun and educational. You get a lot of history about the islands.

When I was young, my family used to rent a houseboat and cruise the river for a week. What a great vacation for a little kid.

How i love the thousand islands! Every summer since i was 7 my family, and my cousins and aunt and uncle have all rented a cottage on Grindstone island for 2 weeks. Its still a tradition of ours, and we still rent the same cottage in Aunt James Bay. For those 2 weeks in heaven we let our hair down and let lose. Grindstone has given me some of the best memories of my life, and i will continue to go back there until the day i die.
