Decatur

Sufjan Stevens, a musical genious… created an entire CD about the state of Illinois. (Come On, Feel The Illinoise!) and he talks about decatur all the time, so i want to go there.
and wasnt lincoln born there?

its funny, because in the image, there is a picture of superman… but Sufjan and his record label didnt have a license to use that image… so it was on the shelves for like 4 hours before it was pulled. my sister got a copy of the superman cd cover. ;)

i’m coming back to Decatur this summer.

I had to go here on a business trip once. The city smelled and it was ugly, too. I can’t imagine any circumstances under which I’d ever want to return here.

Lived in Decatur through 4 years of High School and part of college. Yep, not worth going back too.

There are only two reasons to visit Decatur. 1) You’re going to Millikin University or 2) You’re into ‘ghost hunting’ or the paranormal.
During my years at Millikin, I came to realize how dangerous the town is. It’s not uncommon to hear gun shots at night. The crime level is through the roof.
With the exception of attending the college, the only reason to ever go to Decatur is if you’re into the paranormal. There are lots of fantastic spots to go ‘ghost hunting’ in the town where you’re almost guaranteed to see something strange. However, if you do go out at night, be sure you’re with a group of people, there is no part of the city that is safe for someone to walk alone at night.
