Kitakyushu aka: Kitakyushu,北九州市

visited for the first time in June2005, and delighted to say that I’m going back to live with my fiancee there for 3 months. I believe that it is the 2nd largest city in the Fukuoka prefecture with a population hovering somewhere around 1 Million. the city itself perhaps isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing, but the surrounding countryside is excellent, and being able to view the city and able to see both the Pacific ocean and Sea of Japan from the same peak is truly breathtaking(Sarakura Mtn.). Kitakyushu has it’s own theme park- Space World, a sort of knock off of both Disneyland/Magic Mtn., and is a nice diversion. Transportation is convenient, with a new Int’l airport in the works, and rail to take you throughout the region, south to Fukuoka city, north to the island of Honshu. definitely a good place to visit, and I’ll be back again…

I was an exchange student in Japan for a year in 2003-2004. I had the opportunity to visit Kita-Kyushu many times— it’s so beautiful! There’s lots to do, too… I went to Space World and Moji and countless other places as well. As always, I had a blast wandering around in the malls and the train stations!
