Home Sick

I grew up in the Tri-Cities from 1973-1998. I didn’t realize how beautiful the weather was when I was there. When you are young you often take things for granted. I lived in the midwest for several years after that, during which time I became shockingly aware of how good I had it. I live in Canada now, and I am very happy. However, there will always be a piece of me that longs for those hot summer days with all that sunshine. I hope to visit at least one more time in my life.

The Tri-cities

My good friend lives up here, it’s a pretty small town with a nice environment and good hospitality. We did everything from snowboarding to dirt-biking, it’s a real spacious place where he lives.

Have lived in Richland since 2004

I moved here for work from Seattle, after nearly a year of driving back and forth over the Cascades. The three communities that make up the Tri-Cities (Richland, Pasco, Kennewick) each has its own flavor. Richland was established and built by the government – check out the CHREST museum for info on the Hanford project and the “alphabet houses”. (We currently live in an “A” house.) The confluence of 3 rivers (Snake, Yakima, and Columbia) in the desert makes for interesting weather, in particular heavy freezing fog in the winter months.

Things I especially like: the Emerald of Siam thai restaurant, Templeman’s (butcher), Pasco Farmer’s Market, eggs from Sunshine Acres, walking along the river trails, all the local wineries.
