You gotta know where to go for fun by DJStroky

OK, to all of you who wrote that Roseburg is boring, I challenge you to look around and do something fun! I always enjoy my stay in Roseburg.

One of my favorite activities is inner tubing down the Umpqua River. All that is required is a $12 tube, sunscreen and the optional beer. Take your stuff over to Amacher Park and raft down to at least Hestness Landing. If you are over 21, you’ll want to check out some of the Umpqua Valley Wineries. I didn’t physically go to any, but I tried two wines from these wineries and enjoyed the one from Abacela the most. If you’re an avid bicycle rider, you can put together some awesome 20-40 mile rides which are absolutely gorgeous. I rode on part of this ride’s route. Also, going to the Wildlife Safari is a must.

Roseburg is also a good home base for a little bigger day trips. Bandon on the Oregon Coast is just two hours away by car. Going east up the North Umpqua River, there is cliff jumping at Steamboat Falls and a bit further up the road you’ll find Diamond Lake which has all kinds of summer and winter activities. Also, Crater Lake is driveable from Roseburg.

So there ya go, Roseburg and the nearby area have a lot to offer. Enjoy!

I just got back from taking my mother down to Roseburg to visit my brother who lives there. Roseburg is a really nice little town with lots of interesting history. It’s also surrounded with lots of beautiful scenery and activities for vacationing. Someday I want to go when I have time to explore the Umpqua river (all the beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails) and drive up to visit Crater Lake. And I want to go back to Wildlife Safari as the last time I was there was when it first opened in the 70’s.

As for the town of Roseburg, I am always amazed at how friendly the people are there.

uhh...awkward by markis88

haha okay town MAYBE, but I had a bad experience with the front desk man of the hotel telling innapropriate jokes..that weren’t even funny haha, and talking about eating squirrels. then the breakfast the next day at a restaurant was STRANGE, and the waitress stranger…and the town just had nothing to do. SORRYROSEBURG!!!

eh, whatever by Lizardluver

Beautiful place, but after living there a while, you realize that it’s just a small, conservative retirement town
