In a city that’s good for eats, this is the place to come for eats in San Francisco. Authentic Indian, Mexican and Chinese within a few blocks of each other.

My wife and I spent nearly a week on Valencia Street, right next to the “New Yorker”. And we got to meet Dave Eggers.

There are great restaurants here, like Poncho Villa, but on the down side, some side streets are poorly lit and full of junkies.

• Bushra Rehman – New York-based Pakistani poet/performer and co-editor of Colonize This!: Young Women of Color on Today’s Feminism’
