Japanese Garden

I went here with my boyfriend (who is a Boston born-and-raised man) and we loved it. It is so beautiful and gorgeous, very peaceful with a great view of downtown Portland.

We spent our honeymoon in Portland. Visited the gardens while we were there. It was amazing in it’s beauty and serenity. I loved it!

I visited Portland’s Japanese Garden in April. It was absolutely beautiful. This will sound cheesy, but when you go up the hill to the garden’s entrance, it feels like you’re being transported into a dreamscape. Spring is a wonderful time to visit because the cherry blossoms are blooming all around you, and the ground is covered in pink. My only regret is that I didn’t take more opportunities to just sit and take it all in. I’ll definitely be going back.

I visited Portland in summer 2005 and the Japanese Garden was one of three gardens we visited. It is beautiful, so serene and lovely. Every square inch beautiful. The Japanese Garden is downtown, but parking was very easy, and the guides are knoweledgable. You can wander on your own though and meditate on the lovely sites. Go also to the Chinese Garden and the Rose Garden. All wonderful.

I would give an entire day just to sit alone in this place. The serenity is so encompassing that it chokes your ability to speak and you are forced to take your stroll in reverent silence.

But I wish I didn’t have to hear the nearby Zoo Train.
