This is one of my favorite spots in New York. It’s a great place to read, write or study. They even have little chairs and desks out on the lawn for you to use! And of course, like all NY parks, the people-watching is always fabulous!

I went here when i was in NY in January 2006. The Hotel was near it, and I went to watch the Skating.

If all goes well (::knocking on wood::), I’ll be here on Aug. 11 for the GMA concert series, specifically as they recognize troops. A big group from my unit will be there. I’m really excited about going back to NYC —who knew, when I was there in April, that I’d be back so soon?

This park is one of my favorite places to eat lunch in the warm months. Grab something from a deli and hang out. They have cafe tables and chairs all around the park, and the tall trees really keep the city at bay. They do a really good job keeping the lawn in good shape—it gets replaced whole hog several times a year—and you can actually walk on the grass barefoot here without worring about who left what there when. In the summer months, they have movies on Monday nights and occasional concerts…

This was the only place in new york where i came accros a ‘do not walk on the grass’ sign, but i think it was just a temporary thing while they re-seeded the lawn. It was terribly disappointing to come across such a lush green expanse of grass after walking through the grey city all day, and not be allowed on it (particularly since where I’m from it’s almost always brown due to lack of rain), which coloured my impression of the place a little.
Still, it had a hip, cosmopolitan feel to it – I felt like an outsider as the only one without a laptop and coffee.
It also has a cute, quaint carousel, that made me wish I was young enough to ride and enjoy it.

Love to sit in this park in the summer when they’re screening great old movies
