Hollywood Cemetery

This place has it all. Fantastic angels, pyramids, local legends abound, even a vampires grave. If you want to spend hours and hours walking through a graveyard full of fantastic statues, beautiful rolling hills located right next to a river then THIS is it. Prime picnic area. Spend the day there and TAKE YOUR CAMERA!

The 90-minute walking tour was very interesting. I want to come back for the two-hour tour when I have time to explore afterwards.

The cemetery, founded in 1847, is named for the holly trees on the grounds. No connection to Hollywood, California. ;)

The Valentine History Center offers walking tours most days for $7. I hope to do one while I am home on leave.
