Cerritos
Worth visiting!
A review of this place: worth visiting, not worth staying
wannabe OC is pretty spot on, we’re right on the border!
if you live there, you’ll want to escape the oppresive spick-and-spaness sooner or later.

Not worth visiting!
Boring, but Practical more than anything else
I’ve lived in Cerritos longer than any other city in my life (and I’ve moved 16 times before I left for college), and would call it my hometown when someoen asks where I’m from. Growing up here, I think I resented how perfectly suburban it is (think Pleasantville with a lot more Asians), but more than anything, it really is perfect in a small suburban city sort of way. Everything you need is there. And most of the things are high quality (I say most), such as the library, public education, restaurants, shopping, etc.. I wouldn’t visit here if I was a stranger, but I’d consider living here.
P.S. If nothing else, Cerritos has the best Korean food outside of Seoul, Korea and Korea Town, Los Angeles.

I can't condone a city in LA county that's a wanna be OC city
I’ve lived in and out of the Cerritos area for over 2 decades. I’m a pretty big critic of the local government and the way things are handled. The end result is that we do have here a very nice looking city (to make property values go higher) and great things for the “community” (i.e., Cerritos resident but not someone who puts a lot of tax money into Cerritos because of all the shopping). There’s a lot of don’ts that bug me such as not being able to paint your house a non-earth tone color (the Big Yellow House restaurant eventually closed due to this), not being able to park on a city street overnight (my mom’s car stuck out past the driveway a few inches and got a ticket), drive-through restaurants are not allowed, and other oddities (Bob’s Big Boy restaurant was not allowed to have their mascot statue outside because it projects an image that Cerritos residents are fat, they closed too). It’s a nice suburb where you don’t have to worry about the stereotype image of other LA suburbs but that doesn’t mean this town doesn’t have its share of worries either. As far as a place to visit, who wants to visit the suburbs? There is nothing extraordinary to see. No giant donut or anything like that but a few Korean pop stars have connections here and I think Chad Allen went to church here. In the end though, it does have one of the best public school districts in the state (proven by score rankings) so it’s worth it to live here if you have children but you still have to go to the right schools, if you know what I mean.
