I think i was 8 when my family and i went to sydney. we stayed in an oldish apartment in manly. i don’t remember much of it, except for the beach. it was always busy, but i don’t think we ever went swimming there since it was winter.

I heard a few of their songs on the plane to sydney, and loved it, so I found their CD in a shop in Manly and bought it. Great beaches there too.

Awesome hot chocolate  — 11 months ago

There is a place just as you get off the ferry from Circular Quay, called Max Brenner (Chocolate by the Bald Man). You can get amazing chili hot chocolate there. Mmmmmmmmmmm two aphrodesiacs in the one cup!

    A lovely beach.  — 1 year ago

A great place. IMO nicer than Bondi and there is also an aquarium there, which I’d been to many moons ago. Don’t remember much of it, sadly. But I remember the beach being very nice, and I think there are rock pools there (which means you can swim without having to go into the ocean and get freaked by sharks), something which (correct me if I’m wrong) I don’t think Bondi has. Plus, if nothing esle, it means a ferry ride from Circular Quay, which is always nice (unless the sea is choppy).

How this place changed my life  — 1 year ago

the second time my parents, sister and i went to visit relatives in australia, “thriller” had just come out. sis and i had it on cassette tape and would play it loud on our sony walkman. i remember greasy chips on the corso at manly, the shark bells down at the beaches, hot hot summer nights, and lots of travels and adventures up and down the east coast of australia with harbord, nsw as the start and end point. how did manly change my life? that was the first summer i started actively collecting music. all of eleven years old, i was finally over my barry manilow record collection and headfirst into cassette tapes – especially recording songs from the radio (set giant sony walkman next to radio, press record, press pause a moment after announcer comes on) analong editing at its finest.

the whole of the northern beaches of sydney are known as “Gods Country” if you do go to manly i cannot urge you enough to take a costal tour… if youre there for the beaches, walk north… great cafes in DY just…seriously… jump on the L90 bus and go to palm beach and squiz round there… you may even see a couple of celebs up there… there is nothing that beats the northern beaches.. i have lived here all my life and never want to live anywhere else… its when i see the water i know i am home! :D and if you dont do it often, the ferry and jetcat are a bit of a novelty! :D

This was my favourite place in Sydney. The beach was clean, it was a close distance to the city, and the people wre all laid back and cruisy. I know it’s hella expensive, but if there was anywhere I would like to live, this would be the place.
