Undoubtedly impressive
But definitely not my favourite of the Loire chateaux. It was built by Francois I more as a trophy than a residence (e.g. only one kitchen for the whole chateau and rows of bedrooms that people had to walk through to get to the bathroom!), and that’s fairly obvious from the scarcity of furniture inside. The double staircase is lovely though, and I really liked walking out on the terraces among the chateau’s eighty-something chimneys.

Empty hallways…chunky staircase…I like the idea of how the roof is like a city skyline…wish I could go up those towers

A review of this place
This chateau is the most impressive that I have seen. It is quite expansive, with interesting architecural features such as the double spiral staircase.

Impressive
Architecturally, Chambord is amazing. It’s sheer size is incredible. However, I was slightly disappointed by the emptiness of the interior. The many rooms were very sparsely furnished, if at all. Understandably, though, it would be very difficult to furnish all 440 rooms!
