News about this place

Cnnmoney.com rated Canton’s crime rate over 200. The national average is 100. My home town has a rate of 16. I explained to my parents that I am 50x more likely to be a victim of crime while I’m away at school. They just gave me blank looks.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I won’t lie, I’m biased. I was born and raised here in Canton, OH. And yes, we have some scary parts but what city/town doesn’t. At the same time we have a little bit of everything for everyone. We have the NFL Hall of Fame if you like football. We have the Classic Car Museum if you’re into cars. We have the First Ladies Museum and William McKinley Museum if you like history. There’s a mini science center in the McKinley Museum for the kids, which is always fun on a rainy day. Oh and let’s not forget the Ribs Burn Off every summer. People actually come from out of state to compete in that! It’s a good time and much safer now that it’s been relocated to the fair grounds. Unfortunately, we don’t have much in the way of entertainment for teenagers but hopefully that will change someday. All in all, it’s not a bad city to visit and it’s certainly not a bad place to live and raise a family.

Why I want to go to this place

My battle buddy from deployment stays there (or close enough). Our friendship is the only reason anyone could ever get me to go there, and yes, I will be visiting soon. She was the best roommate I ever had, never complained once about my insomnia, and started every day by telling me that I slept through my alarm again and handing me a Red Bull and a smoke. I miss her!

The last time I went to this place

Visited Canton last night, very briefly, to attend the Hall of Fame football came. I’m not that big of a football fan, but you can’t turn down free tickets!
